National Career Readiness Certificate

This portable credential demonstrates to employers that an individual has the basic skills necessary to be successful in a particular job. In fact, since the NC Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) accurately indicates whether a job candidate has the skills required to be trained in a new career, the CRC can be more meaningful to employers than a high school degree or a resume citing experience in a different job setting.

To earn a CRC, individuals take WorkKeys® assessments in three major areas: Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, and Locating Information. An individual’s test performance determines whether a bronze, silver, or gold certificate is earned. The higher the certificate level earned, the more jobs the recipient is qualified to perform.

Individuals who earn a NC CRC are automatically eligible for the National Career Readiness Certificate, which is recognized across state borders.

KeyTrain® is an Internet-based curriculum that helps individuals to achieve higher levels in Career Readiness. KeyTrain® helps prepare individuals to take WorkKeys® assessments by offering lessons, pre- and post-tests to measure an individual’s skill level and target areas in need of improvement.
