Ready for the next step in your Cosmetology career? Become an instructor and teach the next generation of stylists with the help of Piedmont Community College’s (PCC) upcoming hybrid Master Educator course.

Classes will be held January 19 – June 14, 5 – 10 p.m. in a live/hybrid format, with face-to-face sessions happening on the College’s Caswell County Campus. Registration is under $200 per semester.

This Monday – Thursday program will offer live, online sessions via Zoom on Mondays and Wednesdays and in person classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Throughout the program, instructor Iris Hester will focus on preparing licensed cosmetologists to prepare for the role of instructor and take the NC State Board of Cosmetic Arts Instructor Licensing exam.

Included in the instruction, students will gain knowledge of cosmetology instructional concepts and supervisory and instructional skills for teaching entry-level to advanced cosmetology students in a classroom and laboratory setting.

Course topics include:

  • Theories of education
  • Daily lesson planning
  • Unit planning
  • Lecture techniques
  • Development and administration of assessment tools
  • Laboratory management
  • Student assessment
  • Record keeping
  • Demonstration of services
  • Supervision
  • Other related topics
