Work-based Learning/Internship Requirements:

There are two (2) work-based learning classes required for the substance abuse concentration. Students must register with the North Carolina Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board (NCSAPPB) before enrolling in their work-based learning/internship classes. Work-Based Learning field placements must be supervised by a Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor and a signed supervision agreement is required.

Outlook for Employment

Students must first apply for the Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) credentials from the North Carolina Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board in order to become employed as addiction counselors/specialist.
