This course covers techniques of nail technology, hand and arm massage, and recognition of nail disease and disorders. Upon completion, students should be able to safely and competently perform nail care, including manicures, pedicures, massage decorating, and artificial applications in a salon setting.

Natural Hair Care

COS-3104; 320 hours

This course provides instruction and clinical practice in natural hair care. The course content includes sanitation, bacteriology, disinfection, first aid, shampooing, draping, anatomy, disorders of the hair and scalp and client consultation. Advanced students apply the following natural hair care techniques: Twisting, Extensions, Locs, blow-dry an thermal Iron. Students also learn general practices related to business management and professional ethics in the workplace. Natural hair care students must complete required hours in an approved program before applying to the North Carolina Board of cosmetic arts for examination.
