The following courses begin in the month of February that could position someone with the opportunity to obtain new employment. COMPUTERS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Networking Technology – CompTIA Net+ Certification

CompTIA Network+ Certification is a baseline credential for IT infrastructure, covering troubleshooting, configuring, and managing network. N10-7 exam addresses current networking technologies, like key cloud computing best practices, service models, virtualization techniques, and network resiliency, with expanded coverage of critical security concepts to help networking professionals work with security practitioners.

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner

The AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner credential validates cloud fluency and foundational AWS knowledge. This credential helps organizations identify and develop talent with critical knowledge related to implementing cloud initiatives.

Earn your re-certification after learning updated information on the latest changes in the National Electric Code and NC Electric Code requirements. 

HEALTH CARE

Nurse Aide II

Prepare to work under the supervision of licensed nursing professionals while performing nursing care and services for persons of all ages. Topics include growth and development, personal care, vital signs, communication, nutrition, therapeutic activities, family resources and services, and employment skills.

Phlebotomy Technician: (Clinical)

Gain skills is theory and clinical experiences in the proper collection of blood and other specimens used for diagnostic testing. When you complete this program, you should be able to safely perform procedures necessary for specimen collections on patents in various health care settings and may be eligible for national certification as phlebotomy technicians.

Medication Aide for Licensed Personnel

This program will prepare you for the NC competency exam that enables them to administer medications in skilled nursing homes (long-term care facilities).

Medical Administrative Assistant with EHR  (Career Step)

Approved by the National Healthcareer Association, Career Step’s curriculum includes training on Microsoft Office software and prepares you to pass the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exam. With Career Step’s affordable tuition, you get a quality online education with one-on-one support from dedicated instructors and graduate support advisors.

Medical Coding and Billing (Part I & II)

This online medical coding and billing program trains you in the specialized skills needed to assign the standardized codes used to bill for healthcare services. This course is delivered in two parts.

EMT Online (Continuing Education): Basic EKG Review

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) online Con Ed program is designed to continue emergency medical training at a basic level.  Courses can be used to maintain First Responder, EMR, and EMT certifications.  These courses will also be available at your local fire department/ rescue squad.

CAREER ADVANCEMENT & PERSONAL ENRICHMENT:

Small Unmanned Aerial System (Drone) Pilot Training

Emphasis is placed on Commercial and Government use of drones requires pilots to have FAA remote pilot certification. This PCC course will teach drone piloting skills, address various systems, identify applications, and prepare pilots for certification.

Notary Public Education – offered monthly

The Notary Public course covers information for you to be able to apply for North Carolina Notary Public commissions. Participants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and speak and write English.

Defensive Driving – offered monthly

This National Safety Council’s Defensive Driving course allows qualified drivers the chance to earn a reduction on a traffic infraction upon completion.

Concealed Carry

Ready to get a concealed carry permit? This class is required prior to applying for you permit through their local sheriff’s department.

HeartSaver First Aid & CPR

The HeartSaver CPR and first aid course is a one-day course designed for the public, daycare workers, and teachers.  It will cover CPR, AED usage, and basic first aid. 

Ed2Go

Online, 6-week classes with LIVE instructors offered monthly – that’s Ed2Go! Did we mention there’s over 100 courses available and they begin at only $70 per course?

FREE PROGRAMS:

Employability Lab

This open lab provides employability skills training for unemployed and underemployed adults. Receive career counseling to make appropriate decisions about careers preferences, assessment of current skill levels related to their career choice, and training in the skill area in which remediation is needed. A formal assessment will determine skill appropriateness and identify employment opportunities.
