Piedmont Community College (PCC) recently signed an agreement to help its graduates effortlessly transfer to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW).
The “Pathway to Excellence” program is a partnership that guarantees admission to UNCW for students completing an Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), or an AA or AS in Teacher Preparation degree, with a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.5 from PCC.
“Recognizing that many PCC students transfer to UNCW, we wanted to ensure that the process was not only seamless, but also accommodating. The annual Open House event, as well as the application waiver, all make the steps a bit easier and offer a clear message that UNCW is excited to welcome graduates from our institution,” said Dr. Pamela G. Senegal, President, Piedmont Community College.
A Transfer Student Success Coordinator is provided by UNCW to meet with students at PCC throughout each semester, working in collaboration with the College’s advising staff to help students create a path of transfer and beyond. UNCW will also host PCC students annually in an Open House event and provide an application event each spring on the PCC campus providing application fee waivers to students applying to transfer.
“UNCW is eager to continue recruiting great students to our diverse and exciting university and we know this partnership with Piedmont Community College will help us do just that,” said UNCW Chancellor Jose V. Sartarelli. “Both of our institutions value high-quality programs and innovative partnerships and are committed to enhancing the economic, educational, and cultural vitality of the regions we serve.”
Be mindful, guaranteed admission to the university does not constitute admission to a professional school or specific program. Students entering the pathway are expected to indicate their plan by submitting their Letter of Intent form to UNCW Transfer Admissions.
