Piedmont Community College (PCC) has many short-term courses that offer certification and the possibility for a career change or advancement. The following courses begin in the month of July that could position someone with the opportunity to obtain new employment. For more information on specific areas visit www.piedmontcc.edu/programs. HEALTH CARE:

Pharmacy Technician

Train to assist in quality pharmacy operational procedures. Graduates are eligible to sit for a national certification exam and have the option to submit an application ($189) to participate in Work-Based Learning Internship program with national affiliation partners like CVS and Walgreens, or local pharmacy operations.

Medical Coding and Billing (Part I & II)

This online medical coding and billing program trains you in the specialized skills needed to assign the standardized codes used to bill for healthcare services. This course is delivered in two parts.

Medical Administrative Assistant with EHR  (Career Step)

Approved by the National Healthcareer Association, Career Step’s curriculum includes training on Microsoft Office software and prepares you to pass the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exam. With Career Step’s affordable tuition, you get a quality online education with one-on-one support from dedicated instructors and graduate support advisors.

EMT Online (Continuing Education): Bleeding/Soft Tissue Injuries

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) online Con Ed program is designed to continue emergency medical training at a basic level.  Courses can be used to maintain First Responder, EMR, and EMT certifications.  These courses will also be available at your local fire department/ rescue squad.

CAREER ADVANCEMENT & PERSONAL ENRICHMENT:

Veterinary Assistant I

This entry-level course introduces students to the veterinary industry through the lens of a veterinary assistant. Students gain an overview of general animal care in the veterinary setting including accurate measurement of patient vital signs and proper restraint methods of animals.

Be on your way to a new career that currently offers abundant job openings locally and across the nation. Just think – only five-weeks to a new, good paying career!

Notary Public Education – offered monthly

The Notary Public course covers information for you to be able to apply for North Carolina Notary Public commissions. Participants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and speak and write English.

Ed2Go

Online, 6-week classes with LIVE instructors offered monthly – that’s Ed2Go! Did we mention there’s over 100 courses available and they begin at only $70 per course?

FREE PROGRAMS:

Employability Lab

This open lab provides employability skills training for unemployed and underemployed adults. Receive career counseling to make appropriate decisions about careers preferences, assessment of current skill levels related to their career choice, and training in the skill area in which remediation is needed. A formal assessment will determine skill appropriateness and identify employment opportunities.
