Derald Wise of Booz Allen Hamilton to speak at PCC’s Strategic Planning Kick-Off event on January 14 & 15; Public invited to attend
Piedmont Community College (PCC) will host two kick-off events to begin strategic planning efforts for 2021-2031. This plan will be designed to align with the College’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values.
Those engaged with the College are encouraged to attend one of the two sessions. This includes donors, advisory board members and other volunteers, local businesses and industries, students, employees, other educational constituents, and partners in and around Person and Caswell counties.
The two kick-off events will be held:
• Tuesday, January 14
* Caswell County Campus located at 331 Piedmont Drive, Yanceyville
* 1:45 – 3:30 p.m. in Building K, Rooms 202/203
• Wednesday, January 15
* Person County Campus located at 1715 College Drive
* 1:45 – 3:30 p.m. in Building S, Room 100

Guest speaker Derald Wise from Booz Allen Hamilton will participate in a conversation with the audience about:
• Emerging and immersive tech in today’s industries;
• Forecasting over the horizon technologies;
• Education and Career sustainment in a world of evolving;
• Immersive technologies for good.
In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to talk with the Strategic Planning Committee and voice suggestions around the areas of:
• PCC’s vision for the future;
• Strategies to address the changing needs of the workforce in our community;
• Methods of creating a brighter future for students in Person and Caswell counties.
Ideas shared will assist the College’s Leadership Team create a refreshed plan that will provide direction and guidance on how to best serve its students and ensure their future success while remaining a strong community partner.
“I invite students, employees, business representatives, and community members to join us for this exciting Kick-Off event with our very special guest speaker from Booz Allen Hamilton, Derald Wise,” comments Dr. Pamela G. Senegal, President, Piedmont Community College.
“Derald will discuss the future of technology and how it relates to education. We will then focus on Piedmont Community College’s future, through strategic planning,” she went on to say. “Our goal is to extend new and relevant opportunities to students with an education that is rigorous, meaningful, and affordable and that also supports our service area needs through economic development.”
The schedule detailed below will guide the work of the committees:
January Kick-Off meetings
January – February: Leadership alignment
March – June: Needs / gap analysis; (stakeholder input needed)
July – December: Develop goals, define objectives
January – March: Draft strategic plan
Apr – June: Develop annual implementation strategic plan
July – August: Finalize strategic plan
August: Kick-off new strategic plan, begin implementation and tracking
Once complete, the strategic plan will be in effect for the 2021-2022 academic year through 2030-2031.
