PCC Students inducted into International Honor Society
An induction ceremony was held at Piedmont Community College (PCC) for the Alpha Upsilon Theta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society on Friday, November 15.
To qualify, students must complete 12 credits at PCC and maintain a 3.5 grade point average.
During the fall ceremony, 19 students were inducted, including:
Gloria Ale Beltran, Amy Barbee, Jonathan Bradsher, Laverne Burton, Taylor Clayton, Camille Daye, Chloe Farmer, Jacob Farmer, Caitlin Farthing, Delaney Griffin, Paiton Gunderman, Kaleb Hix, Shawn McBroom, Brandon Mejia, Gereka Richmond, Melissa Shaw, Laticia Springfield, Caleb Thompson, and Jonathan Willis
“It’s really wonderful to have the opportunity to recognize student success,” commented Don Miller, Dean, PCC Learning Commons and co-advisor to PTK. “This year is unique as students from Person Early College for Innovation and Leadership (PECIL) have the college credits needed to participate. It’s been an honor to work with these students and I look forward to the great things PTK members will accomplish in and around our community.”
Over the years, PCC graduates have shared what PTK has meant to them. In fact, 2019 graduate and 2018-19 Academic Excellence Award recipient, Tiffani Woods, has shared on several occasions that her involvement with PTK was significant in her educational journey and enhanced her overall college encounter.
When asked what she would tell interested students, Tiffani says, “I encourage you all to get involved and be active in this chapter. The memories and experiences that you will have are such an incredible addition to your time at PCC.”
