Free Saturday classes available to prepare you for high school equivalency test
Piedmont Community College’s (PCC) Adult Basic Skills (ABS) Team is offering a free hybrid class on Saturdays to prepare adults for their GED® or HiSET® test. Class will begin November 9, and meet 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at PCC’s Caswell County Campus.
Pre-registration and participation in an orientation is required before attending this class. The last orientation class end on Wednesday, November 6.
A hybrid class is one that combines both face-to-face classes and online instruction. The online instruction portion requires internet access and is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week. The face-to-face portion of the hybrid class requires adult learners to attend the three hour classes offered on campus each Saturday. Students must participate a minimum total of six hours per week (include class and online instruction).
Need access to a computer and the internet to complete online work? Visit PCC’s Learning Commons in Building K on the Caswell County Campus. In addition to computers and internet access, students can utilize printing and textbook resources. This space is available 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday – Thursday and 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. of Friday.
“Working adults with young children find it difficult to attend an evening class. Some of them have expressed an interest in a Saturday class option which would fit their schedules better,” according to Debra Harlow, Dean of the program. “So far, five adults have completed orientation for this class and two more have registered for the next orientation.”
