The Piedmont Community College (PCC) Foundation is proud to announce the creation of two new scholarships by Piedmont Electric Helping Hand Foundation for students attending PCC this fall. Students can apply for these new scholarships, as well as many others, from June 1 – 29 by completing the online application available at

Piedmont Electric Membership Corporation’s (PEMC) College Scholarship Program was created in the early 2000s as an effort to give back to their communities by awarding scholarships to qualifying high school seniors for postsecondary and/or vocational education to accredited institutions.

This marks the first year the company has expanded scholarship opportunities to adult students who are either attending or planning to attend Piedmont Community College.

Two Piedmont Electric Helping Hand Foundation’s scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1,500 each and the funds can be used to pay for tuition, books, and fees at PCC. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants (or their parent) must be a member of Piedmont Electric Membership Corporation and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to non-traditional students.

“As an electric cooperative, Piedmont Electric is committed to ensuring that the communities we serve continue to be a good place to live, work and raise a family,” commented Rachael Benedict, Public Relations Specialist, PEMC. “We established the Piedmont Electric Helping Hand Scholarship at Piedmont Community College to help local students achieve their academic goals. In doing so, we believe we are investing in the future of our communities.”

Scholarship applications are being accepted through June 29 by the PCC Foundation. Applicants must complete the online application available at, as well as submit two letters of recommendation and high school/college transcripts.
