Piedmont Community College (PCC) will offer a course in Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) training along with an orientation class, “Orientation to CLT Training.” The orientation for students will begin Tuesday, May 20, and will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays through June 12. Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at PCC’s Workforce Training Center, 303 S. Morgan St., Roxboro.

CLT training is somewhat different from other PCC programs in that it includes job development and placement at the end of training completion. Since the program began last year, CLT graduates from the class have been able to secure employment with local companies that are hiring.

Individuals receive training in basic computer skills and have an opportunity to earn their North Carolina Career Readiness Certificate (CRC). This course is required for anyone planning to enroll in the Certified Logistics Technician training and is eligible for financial assistance. The CLT course will begin June 23, and will meet Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. through July 17.

The Certified Logistics Technician training provides two credentials: Certified Logistics Associate and a mid-level Certified Logistics Technician.  These certificates are nationally validated skills standards which prepare individuals for frontline material handling work in factories, warehouses, distribution centers and transporters.

To enroll in the training, registration will begin at the Workforce Training Center on Tuesday, May 20, at 9 a.m. or contact Jeanette Godsey at (336) 322-2133 for information. Financial assistance is available to qualified unemployed, underemployed, and economically distressed individuals.

The CLT program is being offered through PCC’s Workforce Certification Academy© and sponsored by the College’s Workforce Development and Occupational Extension programs.
