Piedmont Community College (PCC) has an Employability Skills Lab both in Person and Caswell County. Students attending the lab receive free one-on-one assistance from a highly experienced instructor for guidance with resumes, job searches, online applications, filing unemployment claims, and other helpful tasks to assist with job searching.

In addition, students needing financial assistance to pay for short-term training programs can enroll in the free Employability Skills Lab program and complete five easy steps to be referred for funding. PCC partners with multiple agencies to assist unemployed and underemployed individuals.

In addition to outside partnering agencies, PCC’s Continuing Education Division offers two scholarship opportunities:
1) State Employees’ Credit Union Foundation Bridge to Careers Program
     a. Offers students a scholarship of $500 per course within a Pathway to assist with earning a credential;
     b. Three available pathways, Allied Health, Advanced Manufacturing, and Construction, with multiple courses under each allow students to earn multiple credentials.
2) Golden LEAF Scholars Program
     a. Scholarship, up to a maximum amount of $250, is awarded directly to the student as a reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses;
     b. Applying students must be enrolled in a 96-hour or more PCC Continuing Education course that leads to a state, national, or industry recognized credential and meet eligibility criteria.
Students must enroll in the free Employability Lab program and meet the eligibility criteria before applying for a scholarship. Funding can assist with PCC’s multiple short-term training courses, such as healthcare, HVAC, forklift, and advanced manufacturing. Visit www.piedmontcc.edu/ce for an updated list of training options.

Other benefits of the free Employability Lab program include:
• Assistance with filing unemployment insurance claims;
• Introduction to Microsoft Office courses including Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint through the Microsoft Digital Literacy certification;
• Resume building and learning how to track and apply for jobs online;
• Improving reading and math skills using WIN® Online Software;
• Preparing for future interviews and focus on building teamwork skills;
• Gaining soft skills and learning how to improve work ethic;
