Piedmont Community College (PCC) offers small business training and counseling at no cost to users. These services are available in Person and Caswell counties and are led by Scott Keen, Director, Small Business Center.

Keen, who joined the PCC Team in July, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this position. He previously provided individualized consulting and training to over 750 distinct entrepreneurs in the southern region of NC. In addition to working with a large number of customers on various phases of business development, including planning, startup, and growth/expansion, Keen has also assisted small businesses with other revenue strategies and lending processes.

With a master’s degree in business administration and emphasis on marketing, Keen is available to assist local small business owners with their current and future needs. How to Write an Effective Business Plan – Tuesday, September 10, 6-8:30 p.m.

Whether you have a service, retail, manufacturing or direct marketing business, you need a plan. This seminar will address:
• Create a simple business plan;
• Design a full-length plan that can guide your business;
• Determine plan segments that must be address in a in specific manner;
• Establish which sections of the plan bankers will focus on for loaning purposes;
• Build the important marketing piece of the plan

Heard of “location, location, location”? For online marketing, it’s “content, content, content”!

Nationally known digital marketing expert Melanie Diehl will discuss content marketing details, such as tone, date & time, frequency impact how you attract and engage your audiences (or not).

As a group, participants will learn important social media marketing tidbits including:
• How many links create the most engagement
• How to create high-open subject lines
• Tips on using pictures and videos

Facebook Shops – Thursday, September 19, 6-8 p.m.

Learn about Facebook Marketplace, an easy and convenient way to market your small business and sell in your local area. Customers can look through your listings or search for items near them to find great things to buy.
