Piedmont Community College (PCC) will host a Welcome Weekend event for new students and their families on Saturday, August 10 on both the Person and Caswell County campuses from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
“I am excited to meet PCC’s incoming class and share details with them that will prove helpful throughout their first semester as new students,” says LaKisha Farrar, PCC Student Recruiter/Advisor.
Sessions during the event will cover valuable information including College services and resources, such as:
• Learning Commons
• Academic Support Center
• Free tutoring options
• Financial aid opportunities
• Disabilities services
• Technology for face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses
Lunch will be provided by PCC’s Student Government Association and returning PCC students will share their college experiences, as well as helpful tips, during this segment.
“All new students are expected to attend,” shared Farrar. “The event will be a great opportunity for new students to meet other new, as well as returning students.”
Key faculty and staff will be available to answer questions that will be helpful for students just beginning or getting back to their educational journey. In addition, the event gives the PCC Team the opportunity to meet new students, as well as their families, in advance of classes starting.
“We look forward to getting to know our new students, introducing them to life as a PCC Pacer, and really preparing them for the upcoming semester,” shares Farrar. “It is even more exciting because we are holding this event on both campuses and encouraging the students to gain awareness of the facilities, resources, and people at Piedmont Community College.”
