Dr. James A. Anderson, Chancellor of Fayetteville State University (FSU), and Dr. Pamela G. Senegal, President of Piedmont Community College (PCC), signed the $10,000 ($10K) Degree Pathway Partnership, which allows PCC associate degree graduates to complete an online bachelor’s degree at FSU at a total cost of no more than $10,000 in out-of-pocket expenses, or approximately $5,000 at PCC and $5,000 at FSU. Students eligible for federal and state grants will likely pay less than $10,000 out of pocket.
Located in Roxboro, Piedmont Community College serves residents in Person and Caswell Counties with two picturesque campus locations. Offering over 30 programs of study, students have a wide variety of courses to select from that also align with programs offered at FSU.
The $10K Pathway Plan opens the door to affordable bachelor’s degrees to PCC graduates in these online programs: Accounting, Birth through Kindergarten, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Fire and Emergency Services Administration, Intelligence Studies, Nursing, Professional Studies, Psychology, and Sociology.

Piedmont Community College President, Dr. Pamela G. Senegal stated, “Many PCC students are first generation or those interested in watching their educational costs. Connecting with partners that encourage graduates to continue their journey at a 4-year institution, while saving money, is exactly the opening we would like to provide. Individuals with drive and desire should always be encouraged to follow their dream of a degree, no matter their financial situation. This partnership acts as that gateway.”
The agreement was signed as part of the $10 K Degree Pathway Partners Convening held on the FSU campus on Monday, April 1, which brought together FSU faculty and staff with their counterparts at eleven North Carolina Community Colleges, which have either joined the program or are considering doing so.
