Piedmont Community College (PCC) will offer the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor course on Friday, May 3, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the College’s Public Safety Training Center located at 337 Wall Street in Yanceyville.
This course is designed to prepare AHA instructors to teach:
• Importance of high-quality CPR and its impact on survival
• Application of the steps of the Chain of Survival
• Signs of someone needing CPR
• High-quality CPR skills acquisition for adults, children and infants
• Importance of early use of an AED
• AED skill demonstration
• Effective ventilations with a barrier device
• Multi-rescuer resuscitation and skill acquisition
• Techniques for relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults, children and infants
Students interested in enrolling in PCC’s Basic Life Support Instructor course must:
• Pre-register and provide a valid email address for important updates
• Complete an Instructor Candidate Application (to be completed by the TCF/Coordinator/Instructor recommending you for PCC’s BLS Instructor course); form available from angelique.furr@piedmontcc.edu or nancy.oberman@piedmontcc.edu
• Provide BLS Instructor Essentials Course completion Certificate (this can be completed at www.onlineaha.org/)
• Show proof of acceptance with an AHA Community Training Center; To affiliate with Randolph Community College log on to the AHA Instructor Network at https://ahainstructornetwork.americanheart.org
• Provide a current AHA BLS provider certification
PCC’s Basic Life Support Instructor course is $70 plus the required BLS Instructor kit that can be purchased through AHA Distributors: WorldPoint, Channing-Bete Co., or Laerdal Medical Corp.
