Although the Spring semester is underway at Piedmont Community College (PCC), those interested can still register for classes that are condensed into 13 and 8-weeks.

PCC’s 13-week classes begin January 29 and include:

College Transfer Success ( ACA 122 )

• Offered Wednesday, 12:20 – 2:43 p.m. on the Person County Campus; Friday, 9:30 – 10:35 a.m. on the Caswell County Campus; and online

• This course provides information and strategies necessary to develop clear academic and professional goals beyond the community college experience.



Public Speaking ( COM 231 )


• Offered Monday/Wednesday, 1:45 – 3:25 p.m. on the Person County Campus; Tuesday/Thursday, 1:45 – 3:26 p.m. on the Caswell County Campus

• This course provides instruction and experience in preparation and delivery of speeches within a public setting and group discussion.

COM 231 is pre-approved as a Universal General Education Transfer Core course and will transfer to North Carolina public universities.



Writing and Inquiry ( ENG 111 )


• Offered Tuesday, 5:30 – 7:11 p.m. on the both campus locations

• This course is designed to develop the ability to produce clear writing in a variety of genres and formats using a recursive process.

ENG 111 is pre-approved as a Universal General Education Transfer Core course and will transfer to North Carolina public universities.

Writing/Research in the Discipline ( ENG 112 )

• Offered Monday, 5:30 – 7:11 p.m. on the both campus locations

• This course, the second in a series of two, introduces research techniques, documentation styles, and writing strategies.

ENG 112 is pre-approved as a Universal General Education Transfer Core course and will transfer to North Carolina public universities.

Quantitative Literacy ( MAT 143 )

• Offered Tuesday/Thursday, 1:45 – 2:49 p.m. on the both campus locations

• This course is designed to engage students in complex and realistic situations involving the mathematical phenomena of quantity, change and relationship, and uncertainty through project- and activity-based assessment.

MAT 143 is pre-approved as a Universal General Education Transfer Core course and will transfer to North Carolina public universities.

Statistical Methods I ( MAT 152 )

• Offered online

• This course provides a project-based approach to introductory statistics with an emphasis on using real-world data and statistical literacy.

MAT 152 is pre-approved as a Universal General Education Transfer Core course and will transfer to North Carolina public universities.

General Psychology ( PSY 150 )

• Offered Thursday, 10:55 a.m. – 12:35 p.m. on the Person County Campus; and online

• This course provides an overview of the scientific study of human behavior.

PSY 150 is pre-approved as a Universal General Education Transfer Core course and will transfer to North Carolina public universities.

Introduction to Sociology ( SOC 210 )

• Offered online

• This course introduces the scientific study of human society, culture, and social interactions.

SOC 210 is pre-approved as a Universal General Education Transfer Core course and will transfer to North Carolina public universities.

An additional round of classes will begin in early March as part of PCC’s 8-week classes. These include:

• Developmental Math – various dates/times/locations

• Medical Terminology II ( MED 122 ) – online

• Admin Office Procedures II ( MED 131 ) – Monday/Wednesday, 1 – 3:50 p.m., Person County Campus

• Plant Science ( AGR 160 ) – Monday-Thursday, 8 – 10 a.m., Caswell County Campus

• Nurse Aide II ( NAS 102 ) – Monday/Wednesday, 8 a.m. – 12:15 p.m., Person County Campus

• Gunsmithing – Various levels offered at a variety of times at PCC’s Person County Campus

• Welding – Various levels offered at a variety of times at PCC’s Caswell County Campus
