Piedmont Community College’s (PCC) HVAC training began in 2018 with two individual courses: Heating and Air Conditioning. Students are able to take one or both classes to learn the trade and prepare for the certification exam.
Two individuals, Walter McGee and Reginald Williams (pictured), recently completed both courses at the College.
The next training will focus on the Air Conditioning portion of the program and will be held January 15 – April 16 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. This training will take place at PCC’s Workforce Training Center, located at 303 South Morgan Street in Roxboro, and costs $181.25.
PCC’s HVAC-Air Conditioning program focuses on the basic fundamentals of the HVAC industry with a particular focus on the certification exam. Students will learn about:
• Common tools and equipment used by HVAC technicians
• Refrigeration
• HVAC electrical
• Residential air conditioning systems
• HVAC system design
• Sizing and layout
• Generally accepted installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting methods
The Heating course will be offered later in 2019. To enroll in either or both of these courses or for more information, contact PCC’s Workforce Development Team at (336) 322-2156. Financial assistance may be available to qualified unemployed, underemployed, and economically distressed individuals.
