Piedmont Community College (PCC) announces a new Employability Skills Lab to help job seekers in obtaining employment. This new Lab will be open September 24 – December 13, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at PCC’s Workforce Training Center, located at 303 South Morgan Street in Roxboro. Online services are also available through December 31.
The Employability Skills for Career Pathways Lab will offer classroom instruction, as well as walk-in services that are free for those who qualify as unemployed, underemployed, and economically distressed individuals.
Those participating in classroom instruction can learn how to become the type of employee employers are looking for in PCC’s Working Smart workshops (offered on Thursdays, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.).
They can also gain career information about:
• HVAC Technician
• Truck Driver CDL
• Logistics and Forklift Technician
• Manufacturing and Automation positions
• Certified Production Technician
While attending, students can earn a Career Readiness Certification, as well. Classroom instruction is offered Monday – Thursday and enrollment is open at any time, encouraging student to find a better, more secure career future.
Walk-in services will allow visitors to use the computer lab to:
• Create a resume and cover letter
• Print/Fax resume/cover letter
• Explore work opportunities using online search engines
• File an unemployment claim
• Improve keyboarding skills using Keyboarding software
• Expand reading and math skills
