Piedmont Community College (PCC) will offer a Medication Aide course on the Caswell County Campus beginning September 24. The class will be held on Monday and Wednesday, 1-5 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday, 2-5 p.m. through October 3.
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be eligible to take the competency exam and demonstrate skills requirements necessary to qualify for listing on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry. The cost of the exam is $59 and payable to Pearson VUE on the last day of class. Topics will include:
• Medication administration via the oral, topical and instillation routes
• Medical asepsis
• Hand hygiene
• Terminology
• Legal implications
To enroll in this course, a student must be a high school or high school equivalency graduate and be listed on the NC Nurse Aide I Registry.
The registration fee of $70 must be paid by 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 20 in order to save your seat in the class. A textbook is also required and must be purchased prior to the first day of class (available at PCC’s Person County Campus Bookstore or online at https://www.piedmontcc.edu/Bookstore www.piedmontcc.edu/Bookstore).
