Piedmont Community College’s (PCC) Small Business Center is collaborating with the North Carolina Growing Together Project/Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS), and Caswell County Cooperative Extension service to provide a training on the business of organic farm operations.

This training will teach in-depth what it means for a farm to be organically certified, how to become organically certified, how to maintain organic certification, business planning for organic farm operations, record keeping, organic product pricing, and organic product marketing.

Industry professionals, Cooperative Extension Agents, and University Specialists will teach a 5-session class series comprised of:
• September 4: Introduction to Organic Certification
• September 11: Record Keeping
• September 18: Pricing Your Product
• September 25: “Outside of the Box” Marketing
• October 2: Promoting Organic with Social Media
All of these free seminars will begin at 6 p.m. take place at the Caswell County Extension office, located at 126 Court Square in Yanceyville.

Each session can be registered for individually, but it is strongly recommended to register and attend the entire 5-session course. Students who complete all five sessions will have access to an on-farm organic certification consultation with CEFS Farming Systems Specialist, Melissa Bell.
