The Piedmont Community College (PCC) Foundation kicked off its Community Partner fundraising campaign in the spring, calling on local businesses, organizations, and friends to help fulfill their mission of supporting students at PCC. In response to this call to action, Roxboro Savings Bank, a long-time partner to the PCC Foundation, recently rose to the occasion to become a Gold Level Partner for 2018 with a gift of $6,500.

“The business this community provides our bank has allowed us to prosper and fulfill our mission of investing in the future of Person and surrounding counties with this donation,” said Keith Epstein, Executive Vice President and CEO of Roxboro Savings Bank. “PCC is a tremendous asset to our community and we are proud to support their ability to educate students with limited financial resources but limitless potential.”

The PCC Foundation serves students, faculty, and staff at the College in the form of student scholarships, mini-grants for innovative initiatives, employee recognition and development opportunities, and other special projects as needed. While every gift is valued, the Foundation’s Community Partner opportunities allow donors to designate their gifts to the programs that mean the most to them.

For Roxboro Savings Bank, the organization’s Scholarship Program was a significant consideration. Under the direction of the bank’s Board of Directors, $5,000 of this total gift was designated to the Roxboro Savings Bank Scholarship Endowment fund, established with the PCC Foundation in 2003 in memory of J.C. “Bill” Walker. This scholarship has supported PCC students enrolled in Business Administration or Accounting programs for 15 years, and will continue to provide opportunities for future students with this added value.

With two of the PCC Foundation’s largest annual fundraising events quickly approaching, the bank’s remaining funds from this gift will serve as sponsorships for the PCC Alumni Partnership’s 6th Annual Pickin’ by the Lake bluegrass festival on September 8, and the Foundation’s 29th Annual Golf Classic on October 15.

Dr. Pamela G. Senegal, President of Piedmont Community College, stated, “We at PCC consider it an incredible honor to fulfill the educational needs of this community. With the continued generosity of community partners like our neighbors at Roxboro Savings Bank, we are committed to providing our students with every opportunity to succeed. We are grateful to the Board of Directors, employees, and customers at Roxboro Savings Bank for entrusting us with this gift to the PCC Foundation.”
