Piedmont Community College (PCC) will offer the HVAC-Air Conditioning training beginning with the Orientation to HVAC course on March 7-14. This course will meet 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Monday – Thursday at PCC’s Workforce Training Center located at 303 S. Morgan Street in Roxboro.
During the HVAC-Air Conditioning Orientation participants will receive guidance in essential job seeking and marketing needed in the heating and air conditioning field. Students will also have an opportunity to earn their NC Career Readiness Certificate (CRC).
The Orientation course is provided at no cost to those who are not working and looking for employment. Attendance in the Orientation to HVAC is required for anyone seeking financial assistance for the full HVAC-Air Conditioning training course where funds are available to assist with registration fees and other related cost (for qualifying participants).
The full HVAC-Air Conditioning training course will be held March 20 – June 28. This course will meet from 5 – 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
PCC’s HVAC-Air Conditioning program focuses on the basic fundamentals of the HVAC industry with a particular focus on the certification exam. Students will learn about:
• Common tools and equipment used by HVAC technicians
• Refrigeration
• HVAC electrical
• Residential air conditioning systems
• HVAC system design
• Sizing and layout
• Generally accepted installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting methods
HVAC Technician training will be offered in two-sections at PCC. The March-June course will address air conditioning. The second section will begin in September and focus on heating.
