Walmart Grocery Distribution Center and Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) have collaborated to employ applicants who have Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) training available at Piedmont Community College (PCC).
The next CLT course will begin with a free Orientation on Oct. 9 – 23. This orientation class will meet 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at PCC’s Workforce Training Center located at 303 S. Morgan Street in Roxboro and leads to a national credential through the MSSC.
The full Certified Logistics Technician training will be held Oct. 30 – Dec. 12. This class will meet from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Mondays – Thursdays, also at PCC’s Workforce Training Center. Attendance in the Orientation to CLT is required for those seeking financial assistance for the full Certified Logistics Technician training course.
The CLT training provides two credentials: Certified Logistics Associate and a mid-level Certified Logistics Technician. These certificates meet the national skills demand which prepares you for frontline material handling work in factories, warehouses, distribution centers, and transporters.
Successful completers of PCC’s training will gain mid-level practical knowledge needed to understand the world of supply chain logistics and related core proficiencies, including:
• Product receiving
• Product storage
• Order processing
• Packaging and shipment
• Inventory control
• Safe handling of hazardous materials
• Evaluation of transportation modes
• Customs
• Dispatch and tracking operations
