Piedmont Community College (PCC) will offer the Siemens Level I/Mechatronics program beginning with an Orientation to Siemens Level I course on August 14-24. This course will meet 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at PCC’s Workforce Training Center located at 303 S. Morgan Street in Roxboro.

The Orientation course will be followed by the full Siemens Level I/Mechatronics program and will be held August 28 – November 13 on the PCC’s Person County Campus. This program is scheduled from 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays and is taught by Mike Cobb, a Siemens certified instructor.

Participants attending the Orientation to Siemens Level I will receive training in job seeking essentials needed to provide marketable skills for manufacturing technicians in the Mechatronics field and have an opportunity to earn their NC Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) credential.

Attendance in the Orientation to Siemens Level I is required for anyone planning to enroll in the full Mechatronics training program and requesting financial assistance. The orientation course is provided at no cost to those who are not working and looking for employment.

Mark Harrell successfully completed the first Siemens Level I training offered at PCC in May.PCC’s Siemens Level I/Mechatronics program focuses on the integration of mechanical, electrical (electronics), fluid power (hydraulics or pneumatics), and computer technologies to control machine movements. Participants will begin with courses in mechanics, sensors, basic electronics, pneumatics, control logic, and robot programming control.

Those successfully completing PCC’s Siemens Level I/Mechatronics program will have the opportunity to become a Siemens Mechatronics System Assistant after passing the certification exam. This program will also give participants a head-start on earning credit towards a degree by successfully passing a credit-by-examination.

Financial assistance is available to qualified unemployed, underemployed, and economically distressed individuals.
