Walmart Grocery Distribution Center and Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) have collaborated to employ applicants who have secured a foundational-level MSSC Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) certification or mid-level technical MSSC Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) certification. Piedmont Community College (PCC) is a proud sponsor of this training in April.

Certified Logistics Technician training, beginning with Orientation to CLT on April 5 – April 19, will be held at PCC’s Workforce Training Center located at 303 S. Morgan Street in Roxboro. This class will meet 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays.

The full Certified Logistics Technician training will be held April 26 – May 22 and will meet from 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays with a lunch break from 12-12:30 p.m. on the PCC Person County Campus and leads to a national credential through the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC).

This certification provides students with the mid-level practical knowledge needed to understand the world of supply chain logistics and related core proficiencies, including product receiving, product storage, order processing, packaging and shipment, inventory control, safe handling of hazardous materials, evaluation of transportation modes, customs, and dispatch and tracking operations.

The CLT training provides two credentials: Certified Logistics Associate and a mid-level Certified Logistics Technician. These certificates meet the national skills demand which prepares individuals for frontline material handling work in factories, warehouses, distribution centers, and transporters.

Successful students from this program who are also seeking new employment may apply at www.careers.walmart.com for possible employment opportunities in the Henderson Walmart Distribution Center where the starting pay is $15.25 plus benefits for these type of positions.

Attendance in the Orientation to CLT is required for anyone planning to enroll in the Certified Logistics Technician training and requesting financial assistance. This class is provided at no cost to those who are not working and looking for employment.

To enroll in the Certified Logistics Technician orientation and training or for more information on obtaining employment as a Certified Logistics Technician, contact PCC’s Workforce Development Team at (336) 322-2156 or the Workforce Training Center at (336) 599-4620. Financial assistance is available to qualified unemployed, underemployed, and economically distressed individuals.
