Piedmont Community College’s Small Business Center will offer a free seminar “Understanding the NEW Employment Status Rules,” on Monday, November 7 from 4-5 p.m. at the Caswell County Campus located at 331 Piedmont Drive in Yanceyville.

Are you confused about the New Fair Labor Standards Act Rules? Find out what you and your company or nonprofit needs to know and actions to be taken as a result of recent changes that are effective December 1, 2016.

During this free seminar the presenter will discuss who is and who is not affected by these changes, general guidelines for private employers and nonprofit agencies, methods for salary testing, and how bonuses or commissions might affect employee status.

In addition, participants will learn what actions must be taken to transition an employee to non-exempt status and what new record keeping will be required due to the changes in the law.

The presenter, Lee Watkins, is a Human Resources Consultant with over 30 years of experience with companies throughout the United States.

Although the seminar will be offered at no cost to participants, pre-registration is required. To register, go to www.ncsbc.net, then search “Training Events” or call (336) 694-1128.
