Piedmont Community College has rescheduled the BioWork Process Technician course to begin September 6. This course focuses on entry-level training for jobs in the growing biotechnology manufacturing field.
Participants will prepare for employment as process technicians within bioprocess, pharmaceutical, or chemical manufacturing companies. The rigorous 128-hour course covers topics such as work place safety, chemistry, process control, and microbiology.
During the 16-week BioWork Process Technician course, students will participate in 64-hours classroom instruction and additional online instruction. Class will meet each Tuesday from 2 – 6 p.m. between September 6 and December 20 on the Person County campus.
Units of instruction include: Your New Job; Working Safely; Quality; Measuring Process Variables; Transforming Matter (Chemistry); Learning the Nuts & Bolts; Controlling the Process; Sterile Processes (Microbiology); Growing Living Cells (Cell Biology); and Job Seeking Skills.
The cost for PCC’s BioWork Process Technician course includes a $180 registration fee, $1.25 accident insurance, and $138.78 (including tax) for textbooks. Space is limited so register early by calling the Workforce Development Team at (336) 322-2156!
