For more than 30 years, Peter Kay has been teaching the traditional Chinese art of Tai Chi. He began this life-long study with Herman Kauz and will provide lessons in Tai Chi at Piedmont Community College this fall.

Tai Chi training has a well-deserved reputation for enhancing the body’s abilities in balance, core strength, and stress reduction. It is known to relax the mind and the body as it releases tension and mental blockages, leaving clarity and peace for those who practice.

During the class, students will develop an understanding of the theories and practices of Tai Chi, exploring the energy of exercise that will tone muscles, improve circulation, and increase flexibility and balance. In addition, the history and philosophy of exercise and relaxation techniques for stress reduction will be discussed.

The course, Tai Chi PED 235, will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 – 7:15 p.m. during the College’s fall semester. Offered as a one credit physical education class, this cost will be $76 plus fees.

Those interested in registering for the class should call (336) 599-1181 to register. The first Tai Chi class is scheduled for Tuesday, August 18.
