Who and What: Roxboro Mayor Merilyn Newell will compete with Piedmont Community College President, Dr. Walter Bartlett for creating the best Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato sandwiches in town. Samples will be handed out to the audience but the final judge will be special guest Annie Baggett from the North Carolina Dept. of Agrotourism and Sunshine Lavender Farm in Hurdle Mills. Ms. Baggett will be awarding the throw down winner the coveted “Mojo Spoon”, a unique, carved kitchen spoon with a voodoo doll chaperone imported from New Orleans.

The two participants, Mayor Newell and Dr. Bartlett, will be presenting brand new black Duke Mayonnaise ball caps and matching T-Shirts.

Entertainment will be in the capable hands of renowned Zydeco and Blues artist, Mel Melton, along with his brilliant guitar player, Max Drake. The duo entertained last April at the market’s opening and their infectious music always creates a good times roll party spirit. Dancing or hip-shaking will not frowned upon.

The folks at Duke’s Mayonnaise are proud to sponsor this exciting event, which has all the makings of a festival in the future.
When: The market opens at 8 AM at 601 N. Madison Blvd., Roxboro, NC and welcomes all its early birds for the best selections of produce. The music should start about 9ish or thereabouts. We‘re playing it loose. The market usually closes by 12 PM. This event may run over some.

Admission is free but tipping is encouraged with “Tip Jar” Available.

Where: The Person County Farmer’s Market Pavilion
601 North Madison Blvd
Roxboro, NC 27573 (right across from Cook-Out)
