Piedmont Community College will offer the final session of 2014 for Certified Production Technician (CPT) training with an orientation class, “Orientation to CPT Training.” The class will begin Tuesday, Sept. 30, and will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays through Oct. 23. Classes are held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at PCC’s Workforce Training Center, 303 S. Morgan St., in Roxboro.

Individuals receive training in basic computer skills and have an opportunity to earn their North Carolina Career Readiness Certificate (CRC). This course is required for anyone planning to enroll in the Certified Production Technician training and is eligible for financial assistance. CPT training will be held Oct. 24-Dec. 17. That class will meet from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays with a lunch break from 12-12:30 p.m.

The Certified Production Technician course provides training for national certification in four areas: safety awareness, manufacturing processes, quality practices, and maintenance awareness. Upon successful completion of class, students will enroll in a Job Search class that will provide opportunities for students to be referred to local industries that have agreed to give priority status to graduates of the program.

To register, contact the Workforce Development office at (336) 322-2133 or the Workforce Training Center at (336) 599-4620. Financial assistance is available to qualified unemployed, underemployed, and economically distressed individuals.

The CPT program is being offered through PCC’s Workforce Certification Academy©.
