From Sept. 24- Nov. 20, Piedmont Community College will administer for free, GED® practice tests, named GED Ready™, to anyone who registers for this service. Currently, Pearson Vue/GED Testing Service offers the same GED Ready™ (practice tests) online to students for $6 per subject or $24 for the battery of four subjects. Adults who choose to take advantage of this free offer at PCC will save themselves up to $24.
GED Ready™ will predict if adult learners are ready to pass GED® tests. If so, they can proceed to register for GED® testing. If a person does not pass the GED Ready™ tests, he will be given a personalized study plan detailing the areas of study needed in order to improve his scores and chances of passing the high school equivalency test.
Once an adult learner is confident he has the ability to pass the high school equivalency test, he will register and pay online for GED® testing at www.myged.com. Testing is offered at both the Person County and Caswell County campuses of PCC. The cost of the total battery of four subjects of GED® testing is $80 or $20 per subject. The four subjects/test components are: Language Arts Reading, Social Studies, Science and Math.
Cynthia Worth, GED Examiner at Piedmont, stated it was to an adult learners’ advantage to take the free GED Ready™ tests to save money and time to find out if they are ready for GED® testing before spending $80 on the official test.
