Piedmont Community College’s Alumni Partnership will present its second annual Pickin’ by the Lake bluegrass festival on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 1-9 p.m. at the Mayo Park Amphitheater. The event, sponsored by PCC’s Alumni Partnership, will support PCC in funding student scholarships, college programs, and other student projects.

The festival will feature four bluegrass groups: The Bluegrass Brothers, The Malpass Brothers, Third Wheel, and Tyler Jackson and Drive Time. The Bluegrass Brothers will perform at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., and the Malpass Brothers are scheduled for 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The event will open at 1 p.m. with Tyler Jackson and Drive Time, the only returning band from last year’s festival. Jackson and his band will also perform at 5 p.m. Third Wheel is scheduled to perform at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Advance admission to the event is $10 for adults; children under age 12 get in free. Tickets will be sold for $12 at the event on Sept. 6. Advance tickets are available at Ronnie’s Appliance on Durham Road in Roxboro or by calling Patti Clayton at PCC at (336) 322-2105.

The event will feature festival seating at Mayo Park’s amphitheater. Attendees should bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Concessions will be available for purchase.

The festival will be held rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Kirby Theater.
