Seven Piedmont Community College (PCC) students enrolled in PCC Continuing Education programs have been named recipients of the State Employees Credit Union (SECU) scholarships. Recipients were Rebecca Alderson, Courtney A. Clayton, Jacqueline M. Hall, Stephanie Poteat, Yimeka Shore, Melissa Watkins, and Jasmine Williams. The recipients were each awarded $750 to help them complete their Nurse Aid Certification Training program at PCC.

The SECU, via the SECU Foundation, offered the scholarships through a collaborative effort with NC Community College System. The initiative is designed to help meet the needs of North Carolina’s unemployed and underemployed citizens by providing scholarships for Occupational Training leading to a state-regulated or industry-recognized credential offered through Continuing Education.

The recipients were honored with a reception on July 21 at PCC’s Caswell County Campus. Representing SECU were Thomas Thompson, SECU vice president, Yanceyville Branch; Cynthia Claiborne, SECU Advisory Board member; and Sarah Humphrey, SECU Advisory Board member. Also attending were Tommiann Hill, Dean, Workforce Development at PCC, and Lori Watlington, Continuing Education Program Assistant/LEIS Technician, PCC.
