Piedmont Community College (PCC) will offer a course in Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) which prepares students for employment in warehousing and distribution centers. The CLT course will begin June 23 and will meet Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. through July 17.
This course will teach fundamental soft skills and industry specific skills. Certified Logistics Technicians are responsible for the entire life cycle of a product, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivering and final disposal of resources. Students will apply critical thinking to solve warehouse and distribution scenarios and demonstrate proper material handling techniques. This certification provides students with the mid-level technical knowledge needed to understand the world of supply chain logistics and related core competencies, including product receiving, product storage, order processing, packaging and shipment, inventory control, safe handling of hazardous materials, evaluation of transportation modes, customs, and dispatch and tracking operations.
The CLT training provides two credentials; Certified Logistics Associate and a mid-level Certified Logistics Technician. These certificates are nationally validated skills standards which prepare individuals for frontline material handling work in factories, warehouses, distribution centers and transporters.
To enroll in the training, contact Jeanette Godsey at (336) 322-2133 for information. Financial assistance is available to qualified unemployed, underemployed, and economically distressed individuals.
The CLT program is being offered through PCC’s Workforce Certification Academy© and sponsored by the College’s Workforce Development and Occupational Extension Programs.
