Artwork by two Piedmont Community College (PCC) students is currently featured in the College’s Learning Resources Center (LRC) on the Person County Campus. Patrick McCoy and Micah Yarber, advanced art students, have their work on display in the library area of the LRC.

The two students recently complete ART 288 /Studio, the most advanced art class offered by PCC, according to their instructor Amy Levine. The work spans a two to three year period that the artists have been students at PCC.

“Patrick is truly masterful with a pencil,” said Levine. “This semester, he was determined to explore paint for its properties and not to get bogged down in representation. He spent a lot of time researching artists and paint mediums, so his work illustrates a great deal of experimentation.”

Levin described Micah as “a meticulous artist.” “He approaches everything with precision and patience, as well as with great sensitivity. Micah excels in a variety of media, be it pencil, acrylic or, his personal favorite, foam board,” said Levine. “This semester he focused on illustration. The result is a group of pieces that are beautiful and informative.”

The exhibit is open to the public during regular LRC hours. This summer, the Person County LRC is open Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Fridays. The LRC is closed Saturdays.
