Piedmont Community College (PCC) will offer Certified Production Technician (CPT) training July 8 – August 25. This class will meet Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. on the Person County Campus.

Local companies like GKN, P&A Industrial Fabrications, Polywood, WestRock, and Spuntech Industries are guaranteeing interviews to students who successfully complete the CPT training at PCC.

PCC’s Certified Production Technician training offers industry-recognized credentials designed by the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council and extends certificates in the following areas:
• Safety Awareness
• Manufacturing Processes
• Quality Practices
• Maintenance Awareness

Successful students gain skills in manufacturing processes and are prepared for employment in entry-level positions in the manufacturing field. In addition, students earn the OSHA-10 Safety certification. This is why many local manufacturing companies are interested in interviewing and hiring PCC students.

In fact, Meredith Summey of Polywood said “Polywood offers [guaranteed interview] because we are fully confident that the CPT program at PCC has prepared them [the students] to be an excellent employee that they have the skills set and professional preparation to be an employee that will excel.”

This program is offered at $180 and provides the opportunity to then complete MSSC assessments and earn a national credential. Financial assistance is available. To quality, the student must enroll in PCC’s Employability Lab at the Business Development and Entrepreneurship Center (BDEC) in Roxboro.

To enroll in PCC’s Certified Production Technician training or for information about available scholarships and financial assistance, contact PCC’s Workforce Development Team at (336) 599-0032 at the BDEC at 105 N. Main Street in Roxboro.
