Piedmont Community College (PCC) will offer a 6-week BioWork course from June 22 – August 5. The class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on the Person County Campus and participants have the opportunity to sit for the state certification exam for process technicians.
The registration fee is $180.90. Invest in yourself – call today! Continuing Ed Units (CEU’s) are awarded for this course. You must have access to the internet and excellent computer skills to participate and those registering will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The 128-hour BioWork course provides marketable skills for manufacturing technicians in the Biotech field. Bioprocess technicians are involved in the making of products such as antibiotics, bleach, cosmetics, deodorant, detergents, paint, plastics, Post-It notes, shampoo, soft drinks and wine.
Units of instruction include: Your New Job; Working Safely; Quality; Measuring Process Variables; Transforming Matter (Chemistry); Learning the Nuts & Bolts; Controlling the Process; Sterile Processes (Microbiology); Growing Living Cells (Cell Biology); and Job Seeking Skills.
