Piedmont Community College (PCC) was awarded a $1,500 grant from the State Library of North Carolina as part of their COVID-19 Response Mini-Grant program.

The purpose of the Mini-Grant program is to assist North Carolina libraries in responding to the coronavirus pandemic by providing Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funding to help libraries prepare to reopen to the public and adapt services to reduce the impact of COVID-19. This mini-grant program supports Goal One of North Carolina’s Five-Year Plan: Strengthening Capacity.

At PCC, these funds will be used to support reopening efforts at both the Gordon P. Allen Learning Commons on the College’s Person County Campus and the Learning Commons on PCC’s Caswell County Campus.

Some of the items that may be purchased with this funding include:
• Protective supplies
• Cleaning supplies
• Customer service and safety supplies

These supplies will assist with the reopening, allowing PCC students to access computer labs during the Summer semester, which begins May 27. More information about hours of operation and how to schedule a computer lab appointment coming soon.

This grant is made possible by funding from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the State Library of North Carolina, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (IMLS grant number LS-00-19-0034-19).
