Nurse Aid Refresher
In addition, Nurse Aide Refresher will be held January 13–February 4, Monday–Thursday, 2-5 p.m. on the Caswell County Campus.
This course is for individuals on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry with an expired listing within the past 3 years or who is currently certified in another state and seeks listing on the N.C.
Nurse Aide I Registry are eligible to enroll in this 40 hour course. The course provides a review and update of the proper techniques for providing personal care and basic nursing skills. Upon the successful completion of this refresher course and the state competency evaluation, students are eligible for listing on the NC Nurse Aide I Registry.
Certified Nurse Aide I
PCC will offer Nurse Aide I training on Friday evening and Saturday from January 24–May 15. This class will be held on the Caswell County Campus.
PCC’s Nurse Aide I training will prepare you to take the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Competency Test for placement on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry. Successful completion of the training and competency test will enable you to seek employment in the health care industry as a Certified Nurse Aide I.
Phlebotomy
Classes will be held Tuesday–Thursday, 5:30–9 p.m. from February 4–June 30 for those interested in Phlebotomy.
PCC’s Phlebotomy course provides theory and clinical experiences needed for the proper collection of blood and other specimens used for diagnostic testing. Emphasis is placed on ethics, legalities, medical terminology, safety and universal precautions, health care delivery systems, patient relations, anatomy and physiology, and specimen collection.
Upon completion, students should be able to safely perform procedures necessary for specimen collections on patents in various health care settings and may be eligible for national certification as phlebotomy technicians.
Cardiovascular Technician/Monitor
Scheduled for February 11–May 7 from 5–8:45 p.m. on Tuesday–Thursday, this program prepares students to become certified EKG Technicians.
Students will learn the anatomy and physiology of the heart, including the electrical conduction system and how it affects heart function. This course also covers the cardiac cycle, common artifacts, and cardiac terminology.
Students will also learn how to prepare patients, properly place leads, as well as mount and run an EKG strip correctly. This program will prepare students for the Certified EKG Technician (CET) Exam through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
How to Register:
The registration fee for each program is under $200. Upon the successful completion of the course, a competency test fee of $120 or less is payable to the testing agency. To register:
