Piedmont Community College will offer the HVAC-Air Conditioning training starting January 15 through April 16. The class will meet 8 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, and Thursdays at PCC’s Workforce Training Center located at 303 S. Morgan Street in Roxboro.
The HVAC-Air Conditioning program focuses on the basic fundamentals of the HVAC industry with a particular focus on the certification exam. You will learn about:
• Common tools and equipment used by HVAC technicians
• HVAC electrical
• Residential air conditioning systems
• HVAC system design, sizing and layout
• Generally accepted installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting methods
In addition, you will also prepare you for the EPA certification exams, by studying topics such as, small appliances, high-pressure systems and low-pressure systems. Upon completion, you should be able to demonstrate knowledge of refrigerants, be prepared for the EPA certification examinations, and obtain your refrigerant license.
The HVAC Technician training is being offered in two-parts. The first part addresses air conditioning. The second part will focus on heating and will be offered later this year.
