Piedmont Community College will offer the Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) training beginning with Orientation to CLT on May 2. This class will meet Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at PCC’s Workforce Training Center, 303 S. Morgan St., in Roxboro.

CLT Orientation is free and students who successfully complete the training have the opportunity to receive scholarships allowing them to continue with the full CLT training at no cost.

The Certified Logistics Technician training will begin May 23 – June 21. The class will meet from 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays with a lunch break from 12-12:30 p.m. Attendance in the Orientation to CLT is required for anyone planning to enroll in the Certified Logistics Technician training and requesting financial assistance.

Certified Logistics Technician training teaches industry specific skills necessary to become a Certified Logistics Technician. Certified Logistics Technicians are responsible for the complete lifecycle of a product, including gaining, delivery, internal distribution, and final disposal of resources. Students will apply critical thinking to solve warehouse and distribution situations and determine proper material handling techniques.

This certification provides students with the mid-level practical knowledge needed to understand the world of supply chain logistics and related core proficiencies, including product receiving, product storage, order processing, packaging and shipment, inventory control, safe handling of hazardous materials, evaluation of transportation modes, customs, and dispatch and tracking operations.

The CLT training provides two credentials; Certified Logistics Associate and a mid-level Certified Logistics Technician. These certificates meet the national skills demand which prepares individuals for frontline material handling work in factories, warehouses, distribution centers and transporters. There are local job vacancies in Logistics starting at $16//hr.

Participants also receive training in basic computer skills and have an opportunity to earn their NC Career Readiness Certificate (CRC).
