Piedmont Community College and Averett University sign new articulation agreement to benefit graduates with an Applied Science degree
Students who have completed an Associates of Applied Science degree at Piedmont Community College (PCC) and wish to transfer to Averett University will benefit from a new articulation agree between both institutions. The agreement will make the transfer process smooth for PCC students who wish to transfer into Averett University’s Bachelor of Applied Science program, offered through the Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) or IDEAL programs.
“Averett University is excited to join with Piedmont Community College in helping students on their way to baccalaureate degrees and beyond,” said Dr. Tiffany M. Franks, Averett University President. “This agreement not only applies to new Associate in Applied Science graduates at PCC, but also previous graduates.”
PCC students who follow the prescribed Associate in Applied Science degree conditions, maintain a 2.0 cumulative G.P.A. or higher, and meet other requirements, are granted admission to Averett University through this agreement.
Dr. Walter Bartlett, Piedmont Community College President, said the agreement provides an added benefit for graduates who are interested in continuing their education. “I am very pleased that Averett University has entered into this agreement. It is a testament to the esteem in which they hold the graduates of Piedmont Community College.”
Bartlett went on to say, “This articulation agreement is unique in that it is not program specific. Students with an Associate of Applied Science degree from Piedmont Community College can easily transfer to Averett University’s Bachelor of Applied Science - Leadership Studies program. This is an opportunity for students to improve their leadership skills in any applied science program of study.”
Two information sessions about the articulation agreement and transferring from PCC with an Associate in Applied Science degree to Averett University’s Bachelor of Applied Science program will be held in May. The first session will be Thursday, May 14, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on the Person County Campus in Room S100. The second session will be Monday, May 18, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on the Caswell County Campus in Room K203. Light Refreshments will be available.
