PCC fall class schedule now available online
Piedmont Community College’s (PCC) Fall Semester will begin on Aug. 19, just a little over six weeks from now. Students planning to attend PCC this fall will notice a dynamic difference in the way they view schedules for Fall 2012. They will use an interactive online schedule on PCC’s website instead of the paper schedule they are accustomed to seeing.
“Due to the current economic situation, we have made the decision not to print and mass mail paper schedules to the 27,000 homes in our service area as we have in the past. Instead, we are directing students to our website, www.piedmontcc.edu/classschedule to access class schedules,” said Bonnie Davis, Director, Public Information.
The schedule is available in three different formats on the PCC website. All three offer specific advantages. One of the easiest to use is the interactive booklet format, which features information about new programs, important dates, tuition and fees, orientation sessions, various programs of study, and a complete schedule of classes separated into specific class areas, such as Art, Computer Literacy, Office Systems, etc. This format allows the user to turn the pages of the booklet by clicking an arrow to the right of the booklet.
A second format called pdf (portable document format) provides another version of the same information included in the interactive brochure, except this one is suitable for printing. The user may select the specific pages to be printed or can print the entire document if a print document is preferred.
The third option is a schedule listing on the College’s software program called WebAdvisor. Students can access this schedule two different ways on the PCC website. One way is by going to the home page on the PCC website (www.piedmontcc.edu) and clicking on WebAdvisor at the top of the page. The second way is by going to the Curriculum Schedules page on the website at www.piedmontcc.edu/classschedule and selecting the WebAdvisor option. Both options take the user to a page where they may select either Students or Prospective Students from the menu offering and then clicking Search for Sections on the page. The WebAdvisor option allows the user the most complete and up-to-date class information since it shows available seats in individual classes as well as the names of class instructors. When classes are full, they will show as full on this listing.
“We do not want the online schedule to be a detriment to students’ access to class schedules,” said Davis. “We will provide students the assistance they need to locate the schedules online. Our Student Development staff is ready to assist anyone who does not have Internet access or who needs direction in using the online schedules. We have computers available for their use in the Learning Resources Centers on both campuses and in the Admissions Office on the Person County Campus.”
Prospective students should visit or call the PCC Student Development Office at 322-2159 or the College’s main number (336) 599-1181 in Person County or (336) 694-5707 in Caswell County to make an appointment with an academic advisor. Advisors can assist students in accessing the online schedule as well other important enrollment tasks such as the application process, placement test dates, and financial aid and payment plans. Prospect students should visit PCC prior to General Enrollment on July 24-25 to make sure they are ready to enroll.
