Piedmont Community College’s Business Development and Entrepreneurship Center (BDEC) will offer “Introduction to Biodiesel Production,” on Thursday, Oct. 4, on PCC’s Person County Campus in Roxboro. Randy Durren, PCC’s Instructor of Biotechnology/Laboratory Technology, will present the seminar in Room F209 from 6-8 p.m.
Also described as “Biodiesel 101: What It Is and How It Is Made,” this introductory workshop will start with the basics but will also include enough up-to date information to interest those with a technical background. The workshop will cover biodiesel markets and benefits, production technologies, quality control, distribution and storage issues, experience of fleet operators and fuel users, tips on organizing a biodiesel project, updates on state and federal incentives, and a look at future industry developments. This seminar will also include a tour and demonstration of PCC’s biodiesel reactor.
The class will be offered at no charge to participants. Register by calling the BDEC at (336) 599-0032.
