Piedmont Community College’s Business Development and Entrepreneurship Center (BDEC) will hold a free seminar, “Create Your Own Professional Website in WordPress,” on Thursday, Sept. 27, from 6-9 p.m. at the BDEC, 105 N. Main St., Roxboro. Martin Brossman will be the presenter.

Brossman will show participants how for under $100 a year they can have a professional website using WordPress web software. WordPress is the leading open-source (free) content management platform used for building both a website and a blog. It allows users to insert original content and make ongoing changes to the content. Bross also will show participants how to make their site easy for Google to find.

Other topics to be covered include: details for securing domain names, choosing a graphics theme, and step-by-step guidance for building a website. Students will have access to instructional videos to support and add to the class instruction. They also will receive a list of recommended themes, plug-ins and widgets that allow them to customize and enhance their websites.

Although the seminar will be offered at no cost to participants, registration is required. To register, call the BDEC at (336) 599-0032.
