Piedmont Community College is offering a 24-hour course, Medication Administration Exam Prep for Unlicensed Personnel, July 30-Aug. 2. The class will be held Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., on the Caswell County Campus. The instructor will be Cornelia Jay, R.N.   The course is designed to instruct unlicensed personnel in adult care homes, assisted living facilities and group homes in the correct policies and procedures for administering medications. 

Topics will include but are not limited to drug interactions, side effects, administration of liquids and pills, subcutaneous injections and topical treatments. Controlled substances and documentation will be addressed. Dosage calculations and unit dose administration will both be discussed and practiced as well as the proper disposal of unused medications.   Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be prepared to take the North Carolina Adult Care Medication Test.
