BioWork to be offered this spring
Piedmont Community College’s Continuing
Education program will offer BioWork, a course that trains individuals for
careers as bioprocess technicians in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and
chemical manufacturing industries.

This 128-hour course brings together the basics of
manufacturing technology, the fundamentals of science, and the job-seeking
essentials needed to provide marketable skills for manufacturing technicians in
the Biotech field. Bioprocess technicians are involved in the making of
products such as antibiotics, bleach, cosmetics, deodorant, detergents, paint,
plastics, Post-It notes, shampoo, soft drinks and wine.

Bolts; Controlling the Process; Sterile Processes (Microbiology); Growing
Living Cells (Cell Biology); and Job Seeking Skills.
