Do you like to travel or learn about different places in the world? Then you’ll want to mark your calendar for Piedmont Community College’s Brown Bag Lunch Series, six lunch time sessions that begin this month and end in April. The College’s Diversity/Global Awareness Committee will present the events, which will feature PCC faculty and staff presenting on their travels to other countries.

The sessions will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on PCC’s Person County Campus on the third Wednesday of each month, except for December and January. Four sessions will be held in the Technical Education Building (Building S), Room 100, and two sessions will be held in Building B (Classroom), Room 113. The 2011-2012 schedule is as follows:

Sept. 21—Gloria Bennett, Dominican Republic, Room S100
Oct. 19—Dean Christensen, Norway, Room S100
Nov. 16—Dawn Langley, Pakistan, Room B113
Feb. 15—Nicholas Ogada, Africa, Room S100
March 21—Katie Hester, Thailand, Room B113
April 18—Lynn Ward, Greece and Turkey, Room S100

“The purpose of the presentations is to promote the value of cultural diversity and global education. Please bring your lunch and enjoy learning about other cultures and locations in the world,” said Dr. Sherry Stewart, chairman of the Diversity/Global Awareness Committee.

The sessions are open to the public free of charge. Persons attended are invited to bring their own lunches and beverages. Groups are also welcome to attend, but advance notification should be arranged by contacting Dr. Stewart at stewars@piedmontcc.edu or (336) 599-1181, ext. 411.
